4 TOP THINGS TO DO IN TENERIFE

Between Tenerife and La Gomera the stretch of sea is rich in various marine species. A colony of over 600 pilot whales lives along the coast and 26 different cetacean species pass through these areas. During the year, only twenty minutes of navigation, it is possible to spot dolphins, and blue whales every day. Thanks to the fact that they live permanently in front of the coast, seeing them is guaranteed.

We reccomend you these activity because It is also a way to experience the Atlantic Ocean and explore the wilde marine life, take a boat ride and get carried away by the taste of adventure. Jump and swim in a cristal clear water and have a little aperitiv half way while you are taking the sun borning your skin. One of the captains said ; I don’t know anyone who comes back from observing the cetaceans without a big smile and a heart full of happiness.

Boat departures are usually every 3 hours at 10am 1pm and 4pm. During the summer time also 7pm for the sunset trip.

Among the best options are Sailing Boats and Yachts Trip. Have a look at our selected offers. We only work with the best companies.

For those who like sport we also reccomend the Kayak experience which includes sighting of Dolphins and snorkeling with Turtles. Seeing them is not guaranteed but if you go in the morning, choosing the time of 10 am, it is very easy to spot them. Often exceeds people’s expectations.

2 VISIT THE TEIDE NATIONAL PARK ONE OF THE HIGHEST VOLCANO IN THE WORLD.

4 TOP THINGS TO DO IN TENERIFE

The record breacking Volcano symbol of Tenerife and the Canary Islands. Its 3,718 meters in height make it the highest peak in Spain and the third highest volcano in the world, after Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, in Hawaii.

We know that people come to Tenerife for the sea and the Beach but a visit to the Volcano Teide is undoubtedly one of the things to do.

Climbing Mount Teide means feeling the immensity, the silence and the magic of contemplating the world from a unique setting. It is possible to see La Gomera and El Hierro over a sea of clouds. An unforgettable landscape who deserve to be discovered if is your first time in Tenerife.

One of the best ways to visit Teide on your own is by renting a car. (See our article on the best rental car options here.)

The road that leads to the Teide is very smooth and you will have no difficulty finding it. Just put on your GPS rod to Villaflor. Once you have passed Villaflor, only one road will lead you into the volcano gorge. Passing through the forest crown to arrive along the rivers of petrified lava you will be amazed by the incredible landscape. With your car you can stop as much as you like, just driving straight ahead along the road you will find signs indicating the main stops and others with a camera sign. Very Easy to Go.

The other option to visit the Teide National Park if you don’t want to rent a car is by relying on Tenerife local excursions, they are very well organized and you will have a lot of different options and in most of cases, companies will come to pick you up at the hotel or nearby your apartment.

On our website we have already selected for you the best experiences and companies at truly advantageous prices. Have a look here.

3 HANG OUT IN EL MEDANO VILLAGE & LA TEJITA BEACH

4 TOP THINGS TO DO IN TENERIFE

Although this village does not have a remarkable historic center, the natural environment where it is located gives a singular beauty to El Medano a place that still retains a certain village atmosphere and has not become as touristic as the major part of the south of Tenerife. Also famous for kitesurfing, windsurfing and Surf this place has a great atmosphere. The village offers many small restaurants of different styles and shops to buy a souvenir to take home.

There is also a beautiful wooden promenade that runs along the sea where people use to practice Kit Surf and Wind Surf. If you want to try one of these two sports, you are in the right place. There are various schools that offer courses for beginners.

Here you will also find la Teja beach, one of the most beautiful unspoiled beaches in the south of Tenerife. A giant beach that stretches for hundreds of meters and has a red mountain as its backdrop. Many people enjoy climbing it, as it is not very steep and high. I recommend this beach for a nice barefoot walk in the sand or for one of its incredible sunsets but not for sunbathing or spending the day at the beach as too much wind could bother you after a while.

I leave you the reference of two restaurants where I usually go to eat at the Medano. I hope you will like it. Santo Chihuaua & MalaVida. You can check them on Insta becasue i can’t add the link.

4 Visit Anaga Rural Park and Taganana.

4 TOP THINGS TO DO IN TENERIFE

If you are tired of too many days under the sun on the beach, another of the places that we recommend visiting is the Anaga Valley and the village of Taganana.

The Anaga Rural Park is a large protected natural area declared a Biosphere Reserve also called the enchanted forest or the forest of a thousand senses.

Thanks to its biodiversity and the various bird species that live here, along the way you can breathe an enchanted and full of life environment that creates a closer relationship between man and the Nature.

In some areas you may come across walls of fog, also called “horizontal rain” which are characteristic of these mountainous areas. Essential to guarantee the life and magic of this place.

If you go by car just pass the capital of Santa Cruz deTenerife, keep the promenade towards San Andres, where you will find the junction for Anaga. Is pretty easy to get. Otherwise, you can always help yourself with the telephone’s gps.

Anotehr options if you haven’t rented a car because you don’t feel likedriving is rely on an organized excursion by bus. See our offer and discover the program here.

Once you get Anaga, you will find various signs indicating the paths. If you go alone we recommend not to go too far, even to have more time for visiting neighboring Taganana valley and its wild oceanic beaches.

The most famous is located 2 3 km from Taganana and is Playa Benijo. You can also have a look our blog about the most beautiful beaches of Tenerife North here.

If you decide to visit these areas I recommend sport shoes, comfortable clothing, sunscreen, water and a waterproof jacket, the climate changes suddenly.

In Taganana i reccomed you to eat in Casa Africa a typical restaurant that stays in front of the sea.
Mainly it is a seafood restaurant but also offers sandwiches to take away. One of their specialties is octopus in sauce.
